Seasonal flower notes from the bench.

Notes from the Flower & Glory bench in Sevenoaks: what is in season and why it matters, how to keep a bunch for a week, the studio’s year as it happens.

The first notes are being written. They will be about three things:

  • What is in season: what comes fresh from the auction each week, and why a stem is at its best in its own month.
  • Keeping them: how a hand-tied bunch, an arrangement or a wreath lasts longer.
  • The studio’s year: the Christmas wreaths, the Mother’s Day fortnight and a summer of weddings.

Meanwhile, the studio’s working knowledge is already on the site: the meaning of every flower we sell, stem by stem; how to keep a bunch looking its best for a week or more; and the answers to the questions people ask before they order, from the delivery cut-off to what happens when nobody is in.
